Chinchin is just the perfect snack to make in large quantities, because it lasts for a long time, so I’m sure you also want to learn how to make chinchin.

Even though rolling chin chin might seem tasky, chin chin is one of the fastest snack to make. It is loved by many. You can make in large quantity and enjoy it as you work, give your children to school and interestingly, during a family movie time.

Chin chin is a Slightly hard crunchy snack, cut in little cube-like shapes, it is finger food and very easy to make.

INGREDIENTS

  • All-purpose flour
  • Milk
  • Nutmeg
  • Eggs (optional)
  • Water 
  • Vegetable oil 
  • Margarine
  • Sugar

MAKING YOUR NIGERIAN CHINCHIN

  • In a bowl Sift the flour, then add the sugar and ground nutmeg and mix.
  • Add the margarine into the flour then using your hands mix it all together till it is crumb-like. 
  • Break the raw eggs and add them to the flour, and mix well (Eggs are optional)
  • Add the Milk, then mix by hand till a ball of dough is formed. If it feels dry then add very little water, and do this until the dough is well formed.  
  • Then cover the bowl and leave it to rest for about 10 minutes.
  • Knead it again and cut it out into small cubes. 
  • Pour vegetable oil into a deep pan and turn on high heat. 
  • Pour in your chinchin and stir consistently, until it turns brown.

Leave your chinchin to cool down and serve with a cold drink like zobo, and munch away.  Other finger foods you can try are Puff Puff, Sausage roll, Meat pie, Fish Pie, Scotched eggs, Buns, and egg roll.
