Do you want to learn how to make egg rolls?
I Love egg rolls! especially when they are perfectly round. It is one of my preferred snacks. But it can be so awful if it has soaked in a lot of oil.
Have you had that experience of you purchasing an egg roll, and at a bite, you can feel a lot of oil get into your mouth? It can be so annoying, which is why I thought about learning how to make egg rolls at home.
An egg roll is a deep-fried snack, which is basically, an egg covered up in a circle-like shape with dough. It is similar to a scotched egg, the only difference is that scotched eggs are harder, and rougher looking on the surface compared to eggrolls.
INGREDIENTS
- Flour
- Baking powder
- Nutmeg
- Margarine/Butter
- Water
- Boiled Eggs
- Salt
- Sugar
PREPARING NIGERIAN EGG ROLLS
- In a large bowl, mix the flour, baking powder, salt, sugar, and nutmeg thoroughly.
- Add the margarine/Butter and use your fingers to mix the margarine into the flour until the flour crumbles.
- Pour the water a little at a time and knead the dough till the dough is soft and sticky.
- cover it for about 15 to 20 minutes.
- Knead the dough again for a couple of seconds to a minute and divide it into balls, as many as the dough can take.
- Flatten each ball of dough on the palm of your hand, drop the egg in the middle of the flattened dough and tightly wrap the dough around each egg.
- Take out your deep pan, Heat the oil and fry on medium heat until golden brown.
Serve your Egg Roll hot or warm with any drink of your choice, a healthy natural alternative is Zobo (embed link). Apart from Egg roll, there are other finger foods you can enjoy; Puff Puff, Sausage roll, Meat pie, Fish Pie, Chin Chin, Buns, Scotch egg.
